Hi friends,
Just like I promised in our last email here’s a curated list of where to actually find great startup jobs.'
The reality is, a lot of startup jobs get filled by word-of-mouth, which is why networking matters so much when you’re targeting one.
But you find some great startup roles if you know where to look, because I’ve realized that many of them like to stick to specific job boards for posting their open roles.
So that’s why I pulled together this list of boards that consistently post real, up-to-date startup roles.
Let’s begin:
Specialized Startup Boards
Wellfound (formerly AngelList Talent) – The go-to platform for startups, with direct access to founders and detailed info on funding stage and equity.
Y Combinator’s Work at a Startup – Every listing comes from YC-backed companies, think early-stage and fast-paced environments.
Startup.jobs – Curated roles from venture-backed startups across industries.
Tech-Forward Boards
Welcome to the Jungle (formerly Otta) – Smart filters for company size, funding, and mission, great for understanding culture before applying.
Cord – Lets you connect directly with hiring managers (no recruiters in between).
Built In – Perfect if you’re focused on specific cities (Built In Austin, NYC, Chicago, etc.).
Less Mainstream but Worth Checking
Hacker News “Who’s Hiring” – A goldmine for technical roles if you don’t mind digging a bit.
Breakout List – Curated list of high-growth startups actively scaling.
Underdog.io – Invite-only platform where startups reach out to you.
Work in Startups – More European-focused but expanding fast.
Escape the City – Great for people pivoting into startup life from traditional careers.
Bonus tips:
Most startups post across 2–3 platforms, so check a few regularly.
Wellfound and Welcome To The Jungle are particularly useful for understanding company culture and stage.
Follow VCs on X/Twitter, they often announce when their portfolio companies are hiring.
Keep an eye on Product Hunt, new launches often mean new roles.
If you end up finding a good startup role through one of these job boards, let me know!
I’d love to hear about it.
